I read years ago that they never planned to come close to even breaking even on the Volt. Volt was just the first stage in long term R&D for the project. They knew that they need to head that way because the future is going to force them to as cost of fuel goes up.

Ha ha ha! Way to prove you arent a Samsung rep..."3 iPad's down", give me a break, nobody could go through 3 iPad 2's with how tight supply has been. Take a hike.I can attest that I've been through three iPad2's before getting one that didn't have a light leak. And I'm not talking about a small nit or a slight systemic imperfection with uniform light leakage all around - the light leaks were all significant and notable, about the size of a quarter. And were so bad that they weren't even contested by the store staff.
So my fourth iPad2 is perfect. A linemate's iPad that he opened in the store was perfect; the family next to me however did have a small light leak.
Generally speaking, every light leak I saw was ugly and notable. This wasn't that slight "bleed" that you can just accept as part of an LCD. These were all ugly, large yellowish-white blemishes leaking out.

That's uncalled for. I don't understand what the purpose is either. Why don't you explain it if you know so much.
To let people see what a white iPhone 4 looks like compared to a white iPad 2. Should've been common sense.

I just wonder if that also measn the Macbook Pro will switch to Magnesium. I mean, Apple liked to make their things look similar to each other in terms of finish. If iPods and MacPros will be Magnesium (although I think Magnesium is a bit too tough and expensive for a computer standing on a floor or desk), it's very probable the MBP will follow with a new look and magnesium finish.
I know some guy whose 12" powerbook has fallen from not too high and its modem port hit a corner. Now the whole thing is a bit warped and there's a metal dent making it impossible to use the modem. That thing wouldn't have happened with a more elastic (in the phisical way) material. I'm just happy my Macbook is plastic. It looks a bit like from the 80s but I like that. :p

Because any G5 will sodomize a Mini in graphics performance.
As an owner of a Power Mac G5, that statement makes me proud to own one of these beasts.

When you are looking at 3D with glasses, the image protrudes from the screen. When you are looking at 3D without glasses, the image should protrude from the screen.
Since there's no protrusion, a misnomer.
3D - Meaning the illusion of width, height, and depth.
This has all 3 of those.
Who says the screen has to be at the back of the depth instead of the front? I mean, clearly you do, but why?
Both kinds of 3D imaging have an illusion of depth. Why does the direction of that depth matter?
I saw Tangled in the theaer in 3D. About 10% of the effects 'popped out' at me. The other 90% of the effects seemed to be behind the screen. Did Disney consider Tangled a "10% 3D movie?" I doubt it.

Didn't read them then, won't read them in future.
Useless publications of the old age where magazines were catalogs with fluff articles. In the internet age they better supply real content and not half-ass excuses for information.... they'll tank, no doubt: their focus is on sales, not service.

I agree with the age point. What's exciting for Australian cricket (in a warped way) is that with an aging side and with a young English side, the competition between both nations can only get better.
The Australians are no longer unbeatable. Which sucks from a national pride point of view but is great for cricket lovers!
In other news, McGrath and Warney have apparently vowed to return for the Ashes series in Australia.

What will the effect of carbon fiber be on the environment vs aluminum?
Carbon Fiber would be a nightmare for Apples Environmental Check-list. From what I've read:
Once the Carbon Fiber clothes are soaked or saturated with resin, it's basically non-biodegradable. But it seems like the auto industry is looking into a way to actually recycle this stuff.... taking old carbon fiber pieces like from planes and other crafts that utilize Carbon Fiber... and shredding them into reusable material.
Here's some good info:
"Ten years ago, carbon fiber cost $150 a pound. Now, the price is around $10 a pound. Steel, on the other hand, costs less than a dollar per pound. Many analysts say that for carbon fiber to make it into widespread use in cars, the price will have to drop to about $5 per pound."

Quick questions - How does folding with multiple GPU in a rig work? Do you use one GPU client and all the GPUs fold that one WU faster or do you use a GPU client for each card?
One client per card. So I will have 5 clients in total running. 4 GPU and 1 SMP.

Blending expensive gadgets and having a globally famous marketing exercise make this a ridiculous statement!
I'm pretty sure that these douchers are commissioned by the Blend Tec company as advertising. They don't have to buy the gadgets themselves.

No Woodcrest arcoss the board in the Mac Pros? BOO HOO!!! I hope the new monitor rumor is true. I am eyeing up a nice 23" monitor to go along with my new (Woodcrest based?) Mac Pro.A Conroe is fine too? If we get a nice lower priced Conroe tower. I have a weird feeling we're not going to see the Quad G5 go away yet.

Remember when Nokia used to be an innovative company? Now they hope their back patent portfolio will somehow eek out profits from the companies who leapfrogged them at their own game. It's sad, really.

I would hardly call putting a PDF through some crappy-made Adobe iOS app on iPad, you might as well just sell the PDF using Paypal from their website.

The Death Grip is not a myth. I can hold my phone for 20 seconds or so and lose all signal all the way from 5 bars. On top of that, I've had issues importing photos on the phone into iPhone. This is also my second iPhone 4 this month due to said issues.
I just returned my iPhone 4 and got a full refund.
If Apple says there is not an issue, then they have their heads up their a$$es.
