Adobe CS5 Photoshop Classroom in a Book should show you the basics
Amazon link ...
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=classroom+in+a+book&x=0&y=0
shows more than the basics! I got this book for Christmas and it is fantastic. Very easy to follow and if you want to learn specific features it is easy to jump around from section to section.
Classroom in a Book +1 here!
I used the photoshop classroom in a book back when it was Photoshop 5.0. My freshman college digital class was based off that book. I already had experience but the book was a great reference and unlike online tutorials, it explained "why" you do a certain thing not just "how". I highly recommend it.

Could it be that Apple is going to release this new video iPod after Zune so it can steal MS's thunder?....
What do you guys think?
I've been thinking this all along. However, the rumors don't seem to support a near release. But except for the price change, the Sept. iPod releases were not very revolutionary. Release this and watch what happens at holiday time. :D

Thanks for the review. You did point out that it does not cover the front camera, but it appears that it does cover the ambient light sensor. Can you please confirm?
Oh wow! Good call, I just checked and yes it does cover the light sensor...

Clean and simple. Just a suggestion, you may wish to combine both your support and contact links since both of them do the same thing, just add in your email address at the end of the contact form.

That will make things a bit easier. Okay, I've actually never need that feature, but it is good to have I guess.

**Kernal Panic Issue I THINK?***
Hi I am having issues with my White Apple Macbook 13" 2.4ghz late 2008 model...One of the macbook memory slots is damaged but the other one is good...It runs fine and all before until now... How do I fix this and salvage this mac? I took apart my macbook and I found out that the adhesive on the macbook CPU + Heatsink is look...I can not screw in any of the screws to the heat sink as it does not fit because it dosent seem the case has any screw holes in it ( I just replaced the bottom housing)...
What do I need to buy the make the gray adhesive under the heat sink and on the CPU it self to make it stick? Will it fix the "shut down / restart " (kernal panic screen issue? )
**I have attached pictures for you guys to see. Let me know what I need to do...thank you..**

you don't need to have cablevision subscription to use this? i.e. being a customer
You do have to have an account, therefor a customer is required. OR if you have friends/family and you could use their account.

Another HDD space junkie! :D I will buy 1 or 2 TB drives for the Mac Pro. However, what if I buy 1 TB drives and they puke before I fill them up?
Seriously, if you can't find a use for 1TB of space in 3 or 4 years, then you probably shouldn't be buying a MacPro.
Most photography apps don't need lots of cores (they just don't use them). The only appeal of a MacPro to a photographer is the expandability - lots of drives, interchangeable graphics cards. If you don't need the expandability, iMacs are much much better value machines.
If you're seriously worried about saving $30 by buying a slower 500GB drive instead of a faster 1TB drive, you're definitely wasting cash spending $3000 on a MacPro.
I am not being a smart @@S, just asking a legitimate question, as that scenario is my only concern. Also, thanks for clarifying that RAID is not for backup. my good friend uses RAID to backup, but he never writes to his drives, only reads. They are for storing tons of movies and games.
Is that right? How did the data get on to the RAID in the first place?
If your friend only has one copy of his files (on the RAID) then he doesn't have a backup. Backup = an alternate copy.
Not writing to that RAID doesn't make it magically safer... Your friend should get a backup if he's smart and he values his data.
Off-site storage is a big deal with photographers and I understand the benefits, but I never would have added 1+1. LOL
Not so funny when a thief breaks into your house and steals your Mac and the backup drive sat on the table next to it. Proper backups aren't just for professionals - they're for anyone who actually cares about keeping their data.
For someone with a $3000 Mac, a couple of hundred $ to buy enough disks to keep offsite copies is nothing.
I am still thinking about my backup plan, but I have plenty of options thanks to the photographer community! As I stated in my last reply, I will clear my mind this weekend and in all likelihood, order a new Mac Pro 8 core soon.
Sounds like you should be looking at an iMac.

Anyone else know why the scroll bar in the diagram is on the left? Should'nt it be on the right hand side of the screen?
Because the bevel on the right size is used for item selection.

Woke up. My radio was set to a talk show (was funny, now isn't) but it was just some lady saying "...and now we return to the channel 8 news broadcast." [Channel 8 and this radio station share a building] Which I thought was really odd, and I just heard a bunch of seemingly unrelated people saying the word "god" a lot.
Got ready for school, went downstairs. Turned on the T.V. which is something that I never do and still do not do. That day was different. As the T.V. came on the first thing I saw was the second plane hit. Mom told me (and rest of family) to keep getting ready for school, but she was sad. At school we had an assembly. In class the teachers tried to teach but not much really could be done. My 4th period teacher got the CNN.com live feed to work so the class just watched that. (There are projectors in the classrooms)
I can remember nearly everything in extreme detail. Odd how that happens with major events. Also interesting to see where other Mac users were at the time...

Is it worth this price or not?
Short answer: yes, it's a decent price for that machine assuming it has no cosmetic or functional issues.
Thinking of buying it but not sure yet... (I use an intel MacBook too, but I have always wanted a PowerPC mac :p)
If you just want a machine to fool around with for fun, this one ain't bad - but bear in mind that it is almost a technological orphan from Apple's perspective, as Apple is continuously moving away from supporting the PowerPC. It can't run the most current OS anymore, and software updates will dry up soon. It's still a good second machine though.

Touch sensitive bezel is good, but it lacks the novelty and simplicity of a click wheel which is one of the main reasons why iPod was such a hit!
Lets wait and watch!

I think you should calibrate it straight away because otherwise your battery may get overcharged later, which can be quite harmful in terms of how long the battery will last in years. Remember that you can use your new toy during the entire process though, whether it's plugged in or not. :)
Merry Christmas. :)

Saw an ABC Australia journalist in Japan reporting that because the phones are down people are using Facebook to post their status and location to let their families and friends know how they are. I assume Facebook will make some mileage out of this.
One of my friends has Facebook posts of one of the aftershocks where he and a bunch of others are standing out by the airplanes at Tokyo's airport. He said that luckily nobody at the International terminal in the airport seemed to be hurt, and that the duty free shops were pretty much toast. I assume he and the others are spending the night at the airport and not trying to head back to the city.

This is a great start, Apple!
What would be really cool is if the iTV could do iChat video chats, so I can sit on my couch while I'm chatting with family far away.
Also, I tend to rent movies, not to buy them. What about a rental option?
Finally, what about my existing (tiny) DVD collection -- mostly my kid's movies? I realize you can't give people a way to slurp in DVDs they rent from NetFlix -- maybe a DVD drive on iTV?

Easiest thing might be to set up a blog style website, so most of the hard work is done for you. You can then change and alter the look as you go along.
Check out something like Wordpress (http://wordpress.org). As for hosting, I recommend Dreamhost (http://www.dreamhost.com/), a lot of bang for you buck and they have easy one click install for WordPress as a bonus.
I second the recommendation for Dreamhost. I use them for my personal website, and also recommend them to all the people I do web design for. I've never had a problem with them, and they have very generous disk space and bandwidth limits.
