    This is incorrect.

    Microsoft's Vista EULA says:

    4. USE WITH VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGIES. You may not use the software installed on the licensed device within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware system.

This means you can't use the *same* installation of Vista Home inside a virtualization technology on the licensed device.

This DOES NOT mean you can't use it by itself in a virtualization product on any platform.

The word "same" never occurs in the text, which never contemplates multiple installs.

It says you can't use it in a virtual machine. End of story. End of discussion.

i wonder how you click, or make a selection. it would be pointless if you could scroll wothout touching the screen, but had to touch it in order to click on the scroll wheel.

Yeah, that is a good question. It would seem to be a very touchy thing to differentiate scrolling from clicking the buttons. Maybe they'll move back to the 3G interface with the separate buttons. It seems that it might feel a bit awkward to me to not receive any tactile feed back.

I'm excited to see what Apple comes up with.

Judging by the progression in the poll numbers, looks like FUD is gaining traction.

Does that surprise you, or is it just a comment? Right now, MS is in the highest stakes game it has been in for many year, maybe ever.

The mighty giant has been pantsed. The cut-throat business practices of the past are not only well-known, but are also being scrutinized.

MS does not have the best PC OS/Desktop and that is now a known fact by many.

The business community, long a MS stronghold, has grown weary of paying predatory licensing fees for MS backoffice and the desktop. MS does not want to give this up. They want to keep their stranglehold on this market. Purchasing managers are taking a hard look at alternatives, like Apple.

Vista...so much is riding on Vista. it absolutely has to succeed for them. If after five years, with all of its' vast resources, Vista cannot beat OSX, Redmond's reputation, and credibility, is going to suffer badly. The floodgates may open. The wildcard is Leopard.

MS could not delay Vista any longer. But, Redmond knows Apple has the last play. Steve just has to love the position he is in. MS has to play their hand and he can come in and trump it at will. At most, Vista could draw Windows even with Tiger, although most thing this is fanciful thinking on their part. MS is definitely scared by what is coming next (and when).

So, we are going to see even more of this message board trolling and FUD. There are many obvious 'newbie' troll posts. But, I am also seeing some 'moles' trolling too. Some of them showed up many months ago and are now regulars. What they are doing is providing newbie support.

The newbie comes on with a troll post, and bam, he gets a regular, or two to give legitimacy to the disinformation. The thread is off and running. Another tactic I notice is the thread subject troll. The subject line is written to be very negative, but then the first post is very much toned down, sometimes even apologetic, "Sorry for venting, I know this is rare...", that type of stuff. The damage is done and no one is aware it was a disinformation attack.

The stakes are high and MS has been found guilty in court of doing the things I am describing. This is not the ranting of a paranoid. I happen to know a considerable amount about disinformation and the tactics involved. With a little work, you can see the same things. Look at the post history for those making anti-Apple posts. The critical eye can discern the inconsistencies in what they write.

Sorry guys. I was asking how much of Apple does Bill Gates actually own via stock, not the market share that Apple has. This info is very hard to find.

Microsoft bought 150 million in non-voting stock. Hardly a controlling interest. They have since sold most if not all of that stock for a tidy profit. Apple in turn dropped the "Look and Feel" lawsuit (which they weren't going to win anyway) and MS promised updates to "Office" and IE. Microsoft has NO significant financial stake in Apple.

Why would it?? It's not a feature release.

#.#.X releases are bug fix releases.

Maybe because 4.2.6 had feature releases inside the update.

Good thing I picked up a graphics card upgraded iMac instead of waiting :p

A bit disappointing in my opinion. If this happened a few weeks ago, it'd be nice but such a long delay - for what? I would also like to see those MBPs benchmarked.

Much as I like how the MBP looks, and know that it's a good performer, the lack of a good (gaming) graphics card won't tempt me towards saving money for one of these. x1600's all right, but not really enough, especially for the next couple of years.

Entitlement? No offense as many feel the same way. I just don't understand how some can realistically expect such a product/service to be free for how new it is.

Seriously, if you can't afford the 20 bucks, should you have anything other than a trac phone?

The frustration I feel when going from a Mighty Mouse with ball to a mouse with a scroll wheel, is the same as when going from a mouse with a scroll wheel to one with none. What a pity it requires a lot of rubbing/wiping and/or disassembling to keep it working!

    My post-workout recovery drink:
    http://www.jonnyrash.com/img/sandbox/organic-valley-chocolate-milk.jpg

After researching, I discovered that chocolate milk has the same carb to protein ratio that expensive recovery drink mixes have (such as the P90X Recovery Drink). So, instead of spending around $60/month, I've elected to go with the chocolate milk, and to add a few supplements that are important for muscle recovery (which are found in those expensive drinks). Any excuse to drink chocolate milk is a good one.

It was a lovely party, with everyone dressed up in their finest costumes and wears. lbro was a rock star wearing a fur coat, Plutonius was a musketeer, and nies was that dude that discovered the Galapagos. He even had a stuffed dog named Bagel. By early morning the party goers where going home and the lights where being snuffed out.

chrmjenkins was part way through his first cup of tea of the morning, when his good friend, appleguy312 burst through the door wielding a towel and satchel. "Going out for a walk?" said chrmjenkins as he chocked on his tea. "We gotta go, NOW" said appleguy213 as he went through chrmjenkins' linen closet. "Here we are!" exclaimed appleguy123 as he pulled out a pink flowery bath towel. He promptly pushed chrmjenkins out the door of his little bungalow and out on to the front lawn.

"What are those things?!?" demanded chrmjenkins as he pointed to the blocks floating in the sky above.

"Wolves, they're here to eat the people then mine the world to make a new super Wal-Mart and diamond picks." appleguy312 spoke these words as he fiddled with something around his lowest finger (Giggity). "We need to get a signal to escape! Take my hand!"

And with that they vanished into the sky, with chrmjenkins trailing drool out of his unconscious mouth.

Chill people. This is simply an adoption of the iPad calendar which hasn't really raised any objections of this scale before. Now in an attempt to unify the look and feel, whether you like it or not, this move is going to happen.

I for one, asked for this on the very first day I got my iPad I couldn't wait for when my desktop calendar would look that polished and pretty, but yet with all the features if not more. Glad to know it is coming soon.

I suppose I could use a standard AA battery recharger. I haven't seen one in use since about 10 years ago and they never used to be very good...

The current NiMH rechargeables are much, much better than the old NiCds; they last longer and allow more recharge cycles. They still don't last as long per cycle as an alkaline, but for battery-hungry gadgets NiMH is great.

... try bringing a white MacBook ... into a corporate office meeting...
I brought my wife's white MB into work last week to test out our webapps on a Mac (because the cheap b'staards won't even pay $600 for the cheapest Mini) and I got a lot of interest from the rest of the developers ("What? They got you a Mac? How'd you manage that?) - 95% of whom are males in their 20s and 30s.

Apparently, here in EU I get a different version of that policy:

Returns: If you reside in the European Union and you purchase services from Google through the Market, you have the right to withdraw from your purchase within seven working days, commencing on the day after the date of purchase. You acknowledge that upon download of the relevant Product, the performance of services will begin and this right will cease to apply.

    So no quick play-through. ;)

Let's see. How about putting back the option to have alarm alerts turned off if iCal is closed but still on if opened. Anyone who ever uses their laptop for presentations would be so happy to have that feature back. How about putting back the ability to click once on an item in Month view and seeing details. Seriously. Is the point to keep taking away functions and make it look super hokey?
